It's all good!

We made it through three days of school now. Ben seems to really enjoy his time at school, he knows a couple of kids already from last year, and I think he is making new friends; he talks of a boy named Connor.
I did tear up a little when I dropped him off on Monday. But mostly I am fine with him being gone for 6 hours a day, and he's not sad, so that helps me that he isn't calling out for me or missing me. Even though I want to be missed and needed, it's comforting to know that he is comfortable in his new surroundings. I think the 3 years of preschool really helped to prepare him for this year, and he knows so much about reading and can write fairly well, that he is ahead of some of the others in his class which gives him confidence.
He does come home tired, and getting the both of them to bed and to sleep is easier than ever. We get up at 6 or 630 and are out the door by 730 in order to beat the traffic that lines up for miles at the school drop off site. Jason took Ben this morning and that worked out well because I was less rushed getting myself, Aaron, and Ben dressed. We are talking of carpooling with another family...and switching who does the driving each week, so that would be fun and a help to all involved.
Ben's teacher just sent me an email saying that he knew all but 2 words on a sight reading list for kindegarteners. She says he is well ahead for a kindergartener! She will bring out the first grade sight word list for him to work on and she will challenge him academically to keep him interested. All good news!

Ben will do very well I am sure. You have done well preparing the boys for school. My kids always like school (I think), at least they wanted to go if for nothing else but to see their friends. As they got older I loved it when school started cuz they all went so many different directions during the summer when they were in school I knew where everyone was during the day!
